Envelopes of Materials for Countries

 

Each team (country) is given an envelope of materials at the start of the game. You will need to fill each envelope with the appropriate materials in advance and label the envelope. The following envelopes are required for each game.

Rich countries: A1, A2

  • Two pairs of scissors

  • Two rulers

  • One compass

  • One set square (the exact size of the large triangular shape)

  • One protractor (the exact size of the semi-circular shape)

  • Two pencils

  • One sheet of 8 1⁄2" x 11" paper

  • Six $100 notes

 

Middle-income countries: B1, B2

  • Two pencils

  • One ruler

  • 10 sheets of 8 1⁄2" x 11" paper

  • Three $100 notes

 

Low-income countries: C1, C2

  • Two pencils 

  • Four sheets of 8 1⁄2" x 11" paper 

 

Envelope of materials for international commodity market trader (one per game)

The trader is given an envelope with money and a template of the shapes so that he or she can check whether the shapes are the right size. The template also gives the opening prices for the shapes.

  • Template of shapes with their prices

  • Banknotes: 30 @ $50; 60 @ $100; 20 @ $500; 40 @ $1,000

  • A pencil and eraser for marking changes to the prices of shapes

  • A large envelope for keeping completed shapes “secure”

 

Envelope or box of materials for game(s) leader

  • Whistle

  • Six small, colored sticky shapes per game

  • 10 sheets of A4 paper per game
