Over the years, blimps have assumed many
role including transportation, military surveillance and
advertisement. Through all of these duties, they have held
the fascination of the people observing them.
The Web site for Floating on Air has an
overview of the video and a pre-viewing activity. In the
activity students form groups with each group becoming an
expert on one aspect of the blimp and then sharing that
information with the class. The site also includes a blimp
timeline, a glossary of terms, information on the laws of
science that govern the flying of the blimp and exercises
using those laws, a resource hotlist and two activities
involving students using helium to perform experiments. |
