Public Broadcasting’s Federal Funds in Jeopardy

See below for senator and congresspeople contact information.

Earlier this month, a subcommittee of the U.S. House of Representatives voted again to cut federal funding for public broadcasting by $100 million – or 20 percent. The recommended cuts would be devastating to all public broadcasting stations, including Western Reserve Public Media, and would affect the programming and educational services that you value.

We need your help immediately to remedy this situation. Our elected officials need to know what you think about this important matter. Time is of the essence since the full House of Representatives could take final action on these cuts as early as next week.

We are asking you to call your elected officials and express your opinion about the proposed cuts. Contact information for the congressional representatives in the PBS 45 &49 viewing and education service area are listed below. If you do not live in northeast Ohio or western Pennsylvania, you can visit www.congress.org to find the phone numbers of your congressional representatives.

On a final note, please engage as many of your family, friends and colleagues in this effort to ensure that our representatives hear loudly and clearly where the public stands on funding for public broadcasting.

Your support of Western Reserve Public Media is greatly appreciated.
