The World and Government:
An Interview with Betty Hartzell
by Tommy
Tommy: How
has the world changed since you were young?
Mrs. H.: Oh
boy! I don't think there were as many crimes and big business going
on then as there is now. I wasn't afraid to walk anywhere like I
am now. I keep the doors locked.
Tommy: What
were your dreams when you were a child?
Mrs. H.: I
just wanted to be a good wife and mother.
What Tommy learned from Mrs.
H.:
I learned what here dreams was just to be a good wife and mother.
And she wasn't afraid to walk anywhere like I am now. And she keeps
the doors locked at all times. She is about 78 years old.
She used to work at Rudolph's and she was a clerk for about ten
years. She has 3 children, 6 grand children, and 2 great grandchildren.
I learned that my great-grandmother's dreams were to be a good wife
and mother and today those dreams for a lot of girls are different.
