Ohio Rocks! takes your third through fifth grade
students on a tour of Ohio's geology. Learn about the forces
that formed and shaped our state, the geologic evidence left
behind,
and how humans have used our geologic resources throughout our
history. These standards-based videos and lessons will take your
students on a video field trip to some of the most interesting
and important geologic sites in our state. Ohio Rocks! is a CET
multimedia project in partnership with Ohio Geological Survey
and Cincinnati Museum Center, and was funded by a grant from
eTech
Ohio. The website (www.cetconnect.org/ohiorocks) will include
a teacher’s guide, the four videos listed below as well as:
storytelling about trilobites and woolly mammoths; 30 second video
tours of geological sites around Ohio; a careers in science video;
videos on using geological maps and core samples. The site will
also include links to maps and resources from the Ohio Geological
Survey. The four programs are available for broadcast and duplication;
a kit with teacher’s guide, DVD and resource CD will be
available for purchase on the website for $25.
