PBS 45 & 49 in Africa!
In fall 2005, PBS 45 & 49’s Ready To Learn
program had a wonderful opportunity to increase the literacy skills
of children on the other side of the globe. Our Program Department
intern, Frank Chungu, is the president and founder of the Elisac
Center for Children, an orphanage for Tanzanian children whose parents
have died of AIDS. In hearing about Frank’s work and the needs
of these children, we assembled a package of books, activity guides
and crayons that Frank took back to Tanzania. He recently sent numerous
photos of the children receiving the supplies. It was a privilege
for us to participate in such a worthy cause.
