Student Video Contest (SVC) 2008

Copyright Resources

Do I have to cite music, video clips, photos or other files used in video submission?

Yes. If copyrighted materials (including music, audio, graphics/images, or other copyrighted material) are used in the creation of the video project, they must be cited in your application form. All uses of copyrighted material must adhere to fair use guidelines (See below for additional information about Fair Use). It is solely the responsibility of the applicant to secure any necessary permission to use copyrighted material in whole or in part within a SVC 2008 submission. For example, if a submission includes eight (8) different music samples over the course of the video, there should be eight (8) different listings in the citations included as part of the submission. Failure to include citations of all copyrighted work will result in the disqualification of a submission.

Educators and students must credit sources, giving full bibliographic information available. Copyright information may be shown in a separate bibliographic section.

“Educators and students who anticipate their work may be more broadly disseminated are advised to seek permissions during the development process.” (PBS TeacherSource) Please note SVC 2008 state finalists and Videos of the Year may be posted on the eTech Ohio website or disseminated through other channels.
