Summertime Series Offers Graduate Credit

The following professional development sessions provide the opportunity to earn one hour of college credit from Kent State University for an additional fee.

If you wish to receive graduate credit, on the first session day, please bring a check for $125 payable to Kent State.

 

Communication and Collaboration Tools — Three-Day Session

Instructor: Jeff Good

Dates: Choose Tuesday, June 17 to Thursday, June 19 or Tuesday, August 5 to Thursday, August 7

Time: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Cost: $175 for all membership levels

Learn about blogging, podcasting, wikis, digital photography and video production. The class will focus on identifying equipment and resources and integrating the technology into the classroom. If possible, participants should bring their own digital still camera, video camera, etc. Equipment also will be available on loan.


GPS, Geocaching and Google Earth — Three-Day Session

Instructor: Jeff Good

Dates: Choose Tuesday, June 24 to Thursday, June 26 or Tuesday, August 12 to Thursday, August 14

Time: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Cost: $175 for all membership levels

Integrate geospatial technology into the classroom environment using handheld GPS devices, geocaching, earthcaching and educaching. Also learn more about Google Earth and accompanying tools. Participants can bring their own GPS devices or use handheld GPS units that are available on loan.


Digital Storytelling

Instructor: Ralph Tolbert

Dates: Choose first class dates of Friday, June 20 or Friday, August 8. Additional dates will be scheduled on the first class day.

Time: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Cost: $175 for all membership levels

Find out how to use PowerPoint, Moviemaker, podcasting, Camtasia and other technologies to create and deliver digital stories. This series will have one full-day seminar on site, plus online work and a half-day meeting to review the attendees’ work.
