Juvenile violence is a rising
issue across the nation. Akron is no exception. As gang
involvement is increasing, so are the amount of delinquency
cases. In 2006, Summit County saw about 6,400 cases of juvenile
delinquency.
With an 11 percent increase from
2005 to 2006, community leaders are taking action to counter
the problem. On Friday, May 25, the Summit County Prosecutor’s
Office held a conference to get information to the public
and start a task force. Speakers included Attorney General
Marc Dann, Judge Linda Teodosio, prominent family psychologist
John Rosemond and local leaders who work with Akron’s
youth.
